Here's where the confusion exists. We start with Mary Jane (dau. of Conrad Jr.) who is recorded as dying at a young age. Now, not only does that make THAT Mary an unlikely candidate for marriage, but, the one who married Charles Russell VanTassel was born around 1860, which would REALLY impress me, for Conrad Jr. to have managed THAT one! After all, he was 82 in 1860. And his wife was not MUCH younger. I'm venturing a guess that "VanTassel and Allied Lines" may have misread information or, may have found a totally different Mary Jane Handspiker. As this Mary is the only likely candidate I've been able to find, and other records indicate she married a VanTassel, I shall leave the record "as is," for the time being. Though, the VanTassel book did give a birthyear of around 1860 and a death date around 1933, should that help in future efforts to verify this connection. This doesn't even take into consideration the possible confusion of "Alices" with her very own "sister" Alice Dirmidia (Dorinda). The listing as Mary Jane is partly because of her sister Alice. And, some sources listing her as Mary Jane.
CV1 has her as born in 1859, possibly by Census... so... 1861 may be a baptismal date? It would at least make her a couple of years older at time of her marriage to Charles!
