[418] NOTE: The ancestry of David Fanning takes one of two routes. Here, I've stuck to what I believe is the most correct, whereby his father is Bryant, grandfather is Laughlin and great grandfather is Thomas Amis Fanning. For the purpose of full coverage, the other possible line is in the main genealogy database, found elsewhere on my website. The other line also lists an Elizabeth Middleton as David's mother, indicating that "other sources" list her as Echols. It also uses Bryan, vs. Bryant as his father's name, which may be where all the differences arise???

[117] Likely died w/o marrying. Usually called "Stewart", was a deaf/mute. One source says he was referenced as Walter S. in 1891 (suspecting that was from a Census) In 1881 Census, seems to have been listed as Walter S. Handspiker in family of David W. Same tombstone as parents.
[1616]
Seems to have been quite young at time of marriage.
Parentage is suspected to be either Peter Levally and Elisabeth Yabsly or John Levalley and Hester Cook.
