Died young. Consider possible cross reference, or, note, regarding Mary Alice Handspiker, as there has been some confusion. NOTE: Mary Jane H. died while an infant, whereas Mary Alice has a record of marriage. Here's an example of the listings for Mary Jane:
Husband: Orbin Russell Van Tassell died at age: 81
Born: 25 Oct 1890 in: Culloden, Digby County, NS1
Died: 28 Mar 1972 in: Digby, Digby County, NS2
Father: Charles Russell Van Tassell
Mother: Mary Jane Handspiker
This family resided in Digby.
IF Mary Jane, listed here, is the same who married Charles V.T., since she was likely born before 1814, she would have been 76, when she had Orbin! Makes no sense to ME! I truly believe, Mary Alice (at least as she is, for now) is the TRUE "Bride of Charles VanTassel."
[1236] Another mystery man. This man was listed in St John, NB in 1867-68 Directory on Waterloo & White, as a shoemaker. In same directory, John Hanselpacker is listed as a ship carpenter on Waterloo & Castle. Could be that John, Thomas and David H. Hanselpacker are all related but not yet tied to the rest of the NB crowd. Work to be done on these three. Likely some information on known John's may be incorrect, if listing St John information, though it is known that John H. (1808-1870) was buried in St John. There appears to be, if transcription is correct, also a "S. Hanselpecker" living in St John City in 1896, another McAlpine Directory "hit." This "S" is listed as a Seaman.
