[1070] 25-Apr-1830 is date of birth listed in 1901 Census, residing in Canning Parish, Douglas Harbour. It's also the date of his birth on his gravestone. 18-Apr-1829 has also been seen listed as his birth date in other sources. Howver, that is for another Justus Earle who appears to have died 19-May-1829, in infancy, though SOME records even show that Justus as living to 19-May-1929!!!. This is very unlikely, as the listing of John Edward Earle's sons as being buried alongside their father shows three sons, two of whom were named Justus.

June 1963: " L. Newton Ross, retired fisherman, passed away June 28 at the Digby General Hospital following a short illness. Born at Culloden 79 years ago, and except for a brief period of employment in the United States, was a lifetime resident of that village. Surviving are his wife the former Dora Handspiker; 3 daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Elliott VanTassel) Mount Pleasant; Dora (Mrs. Basil Tufts), Clyde River; and Aldyth (Mrs. Leo Kaye), Culloden; 5 sons, James, Marshalltown; John, Seabrook; Edward, Yarmouth; Frank and Robert, Culloden.
In 1961 "Newton" left the home to his son, Frank E. Ross. This property was finally divided to a 20 x 20 (rods) lot. Frank married Merna Neva Finigan, of Freeport on March 3rd 1945.

Donald Coburn indicates Benjamin was a Loyalist from Georgia. Whereas Craig Sale and R. Hudson indicated he was from NY, stating: "Benjamin Sloat was a Loyalist, fighting on the side of the British inthe American Revolutionary War. He was given land in New Brunswick andhe moved there at the end of the war in 1783."
Will proved 7-Mar-1820.
