Based on information from Hanselpacker Cemetery, my guess is that James married a Susan (Susan A. Clark), and MAY have had a son, Charles L. Clark (if age at death was 4, rather than 40, 1882-16-Oct-1886). Charles Samuel Clark has been listed as son of William and Matilda, which might indicate the current marker IS incorrect, and should read "Died at 4 years old" rather than 40. However, that would also mean, all dates for Charles Samuel happened to coincide with Charles L.! A bit UNlikely. For now, Charles L. is listed as son of William and Matilda, and will remain there until positive proof of age at death is found.

Some family records indicate she was baptized at the Mill Cove Baptist Church, Mill Cove, Queens County, New Brunswick, Canada, vice being christened (same date) at the Gagetown Anglican Church (St John's).
In "Early Baptists of Cambridge Parish - Greenwood" we find the Camp Genealogical information indicating that Mary was dau. of George, not John, who married George Camp. SO!!!! Was it Mary, dau. of John who married Solomon? In same record, I see a Solomon Camp married a Jane Spence and died (murdered) at sea.

[34] Died young, by one count, died 1871 and unmarried by another. Either way, he couldn't be the "Jake" of New Brunswick "fame." Is listed in 1871 Census as living with Thomas Abram (his brother) and his family, at age 46. Not in the same group in 1881.

Digby Census Records for the years 1871 1881 1891
PURDY, Josiah H 32m 40m - farmer
Francis 30m 38m -
Alice 6 16(s)
Clarence 4 14
Mary 2 -
Fred O. - 10
Eliza M. - 7
Alberta - 4
NOTE: "H" stands for Hillsborough, Bear River area. No Sarah Samantha or Mattie Purdy found in this family. However, as she was born in 1882, and the family doesn't seem to have been resident for a census in that year, it could explain her/their absence.
From Henry Mabie, of Nashua, New Hampshire: He lists Edmund Purdy and Rebecca Gillette, as Josiah's parents. But his line stops there, as James Russell Purdy and Eliza Ann Gilliat are from a line that appeared more thoroughly researched, am sticking with that line. Mr. Mabie's list of children is: Frances (poss Frances Amelia "Emma"),Mary (possibly Clorine?), Alice, Clarence, Eliza, Fred, Alberta, Jennie, Delice, and Sarah.
Josiah's naturalization record says he lived at 51 Amerdine Street in Boston, when he was naturalized on 9-oct-1899 his cert # was 246-65. It also states that he arrived in Boston from Digby on or about 20 April 1887, which would mean that Samantha was born in Nova Scotia, not Dorchester. He stated his declaration to become a citizen on 30 Mar 1894.
From 1881 Canada Census for Hillsburgh, Digby County, Nova Scotia:
Josiah PURDY M Male English 40 Nova Scotia Farmer Baptist
Frances PURDY M Female English 32 Nova Scotia Baptist
Allie PURDY Female English 16 Nova Scotia Baptist
Clarance PURDY Female English 14 Nova Scotia Baptist
Fred O PURDY Male English 10 Nova Scotia Baptist
Eliza M PURDY Female English 7 Nova Scotia Baptist
Alburty PURDY Female English 4 Nova Scotia Baptist
Jenny M PURDY Female English 2 Nova Scotia Baptist
Based on the 1881 Census, it may very well be that the twins, Mary and Emma, died young.
