1891 Census for Digby, Nova Scotia:

MUNROE, Collins 34m farmer
Menetta 25m

As there were ZERO listings for Colin in earlier census years for Nova Scotia (specifically in Digby), suspect he might have come from outside the county or even the province. Only possibility on 1881 Census at LDS site is one in Ontario.

Some earlier Digby Munro(e) connections... just don't believe they are direct relations of Colin/Collins:

MUNRO Elnor died 1867 age 66
MONROE Alexander buried May 16 1790 Trinity Anglican
(www.lostatsea.com lists Alexander as drowned on 16 May 1790 in Bay of Fundy)

There are a TON of Colin Munroes from North Carolina. Suspect, MAYBE, that ancestors for this one might have been from there, been Loyalists? Or, POSSIBLY, this Colin was born "south of the border". Surely he was not in NS until shortly before marrying Nettie. Further looks in Canada indicate the name was also very common in Ontario in the mid-1800's, in Kent and Elgin counties.
