Rumor has it that the "P" stands for Plumage or Prumage. Have no substantiated information to prove it stands for ANYTHING, though have seen Primrose in a few records.
Interestingly enough, have this wedding announcement from Halifax paper:

HANDSPIKER - BANKS
DIGBY, Sept. 28 - At Lawrencetown recently the marriage of Helen S.
Banks and Stillman Handspiker of Mount Pleasant, Digby county, took
place. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Leonard Banks of West
Inglesville.
Everything fits, within reason (have date of marriage as the 18th), and the article
lists the bride as Helen S. Banks, whereas I have Sarah Hilda Banks. In either case,
the parentage is correct. The question then becomes, which record is more correct?
[567] Have also seen the name Christina Nevins listed as wife of William and mother of Julia. However, same record indicates she died in Glasgow. If so, she died JUST before William came to the Colonies from Scotland. It also means he would have arrived with very few to no children. It ALSO would be a means of negating this Christina as mother of Julia, as Julia was born in 1783, possibly ten years or more after William arrived in Colonies.
