Also seen as Jonathan. May have married (first) Elizabeth Ganey. IF so, there's a John Handspiker marrying a "Mrs. Elizabeth Green" in Digby, on 8-Dec-1839. Though, I do have Moses marrying Elizabeth Grancy, which is another spelling of the "Elizabeth Ganey" in some records. Were both men married to this woman at some point? In 1901 Census for Digby (town), he's listed with wife Amelia and only child living in the same house is Almira. Listed as 22 years of age, b. 9-Jun-1878
In 1881 Canada Census for Digby, Digby County, Nova Scotia, the household is listed as "under attack of fever", with the following family group:
John HANDSPIKER M Male English 66 N S Farmer
Amelia HANDSPIKER M Female English 46 New Brunswick Baptist
Henrietta HANDSPIKER Female English 17 Nova Scotia Methodist Church of England
Agnus HANDSPIKER Female English 15 Nova Scotia Methodist Church of England
Almyra HANDSPIKER Female English 8 Nova Scotia Methodist Church of England
Anna M HANDSPIKER Female English 6 Nova Scotia Methodist Church of England
Sabra I HANDSPIKER Female English 2 Nova Scotia Methodist Church of England

At a time, thought possible confusion with William H. who married Mary Ann Clark. However, census records indicate that William was still married to Mary Ann in 1881, so no longer a conflict. Just have to find out what family THIS William belongs to. Could THIS William be the "William Balmaine Hanselpacker" who is mentioned in the New Brunswick Loyalists book by Sharon Dubeau? One would THINK that mention would reference the son of John and Julia? If so, is their William Henry incorrectly listed?
William HanselPECKER married Amelia Eliza Tirrel or Ferrill (both of Sheffield IN Sheffield Parish, on 2-Jan-1837) Interestingly enough, the signature seems to have been that of Permelia Terrill, which is not a VERY common given name, but is the same given name of Permelia MacDonald, who appears as witness on marriages with William. In fact, they were witnesses to the marriage of David Fulton and Catherine Hanselpacker. IS it the same William? Hard to say, as Mary Ann is listed as 60 in the 1871 Census with William Henry Hanselpacker, so that would be most unusual. 29-Jan-1843, probably this same William, married a Hannah Burke... hmm! See Sheffield Wesleyan Methodist Marriages 1835-1906 at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nbpast/Church/w-meth-m.htm
"HANSELPECKER - William (Sheffield) / TIRREL - Amelia Eliza (Sheffield) / 2 Jan 1837"
"HANSELPECKER - William (Sheffield) / 29 Jan 1843 / BURKE - Hannah (Sheffield) / wit: --- "
Could be this or another William Hanselpacker who is listed as dying in St Mary's, York County, NB, 28-Jun-1881, in his 78th year. This does come very close to another William, but his death is already established as 21-Nov-1884 (Wm. Henry H'packer at age 80 or so.... yes.. a bit TOO similar!).
