Family in 1881 Canada Census for Sandy Cove, Digby Co, NS:
Nelson DAKIN M Male English 36 Nova Scotia Master Mariner Methodist
Irena DAKIN M Female English 34 Nova Scotia Methodist (b. Sandy Cove)
Hinne DAKIN Female English 12 Nova Scotia Methodist (b. May-1869, Sandy Cove)
Blare DAKIN Male English 7 Nova Scotia Methodist (b. 06-Dec-1873, Sandy Cove)
Apparently, George went by middle name and "Hinne" is the transcription/enumeration of Minnie.
LDS record in IGI indicates George Nelson Dakin born 12-Dec-1845, died SAME DAY "at sea". If he was born in Sandy Cove,
why would he have died the very same day, at sea? This one requires explanation. No other of that name fits this record.
BELIEVE the date of death was incorrectly entered into IGI.
Myrna Doble-McGhie, whose Dakin line is uploaded to AWT, shows George Nelson Dakin of same date of birth, as marrying Irene Carty Abt. 1866. There is also listed, another child, Lena, b. Abt. 1875, but Lena must have died young, as not listed for 1881 Census. Further search of her online "line", indicates where the error took place in LDS records. It also shows George's date of death as 1845, HOWEVER, it then lists in the notes that George, Irene and Lena ALL died "at sea" off the island of Nantucket. This indicates a year for all of 1898... problem is, if so, where was Lena in 1881 Census???? Hmm!

In 1901 Census is listed as "Emma E. Handspiker". On cemetery listing for the Rural Cemetery, she's listed as Emma Kay and born in 1864, vice 1863. In 1910 Census of Lubec, Washington County, Maine, USA, she is listed as Emma F. Handspiker (possibly misread the E or the E is supposed to be F?
