Through various sources, it appears that "Annie W. Hanselapacker, Annie Matilda Hanselpacker and Matilda Hanselpacker (who all married Joseph Sloat) are one and the same person. There MAY have been a Matilda Hanselpacker born in 1830, but my guess is that if there was, she was either born to a diffferent William, or, may have died young?
John Hanselpacker and Julia Balmain (Annie's grandparents) were married in the Gagetown Anglican Church in 1799. When Benjamin Sloat (Joseph's ancestor) first arrived in New Brunswick in 1783, he shortly had his family all christened in the Gagetown Anglican Church in 1787. So the two families likely knew one another before Matilda and Joseph were married. Douglas Harbor and Gagetown (Grimross Neck) are not far apart by river, which would have been the transportation system in those days.
By 1871 Census she is listed as 26 years-old. The Census took place in April of that year. This is hard to figure as her birthyear is almost always listed as 1843.
Many records indicate a Matilda was born to William and Mary Ann, in or around 1830. This may very well be the case, though surely, Annie Matilda was born at least 13 years later. Whether the first "Matilda" truly was born in 1830, and, possibly passed in her young years, or, if this was meant to be Annie Matilda, with simply incorrect dates is not yet known or proven. We know, on the better known lists, there is a gap of 5 years, between John and Henry. So, there's no concern about the potential, merely the possibility.
Gravestone shows birth year of 1843.

Bill Hazelton believes this to be Arthur Whitfield Hazelton (b. 20-Dec-1900). I can see his reasons, but Arthur was born late enough in 1900, he may not have made the 1901 Census (trust me, I've seen it happen). And though Wallace and Whitfield both start with "W" and are two syllables, they are hardly easily confused. I believe Wallace may have been another child, so am listing him as such.
To date, only data from 1901 Digby Census.
