Capt. Crawford Daley, b. 1834 d. 1899 (see obit on Digby Genweb) may have been a brother to John?
When he died in 1899, he did leave "behind" two brothers, three sisters, etc... Was a mariner, and later a farmer in Culloden.
Obit also on Genweb site: Another brother MAY be (if I'm guessing correctly), James Daley (b. 8-May- 1840 Digby, d. May? 1916, Nebraska), lists him as of a large family, of whom three sisters are still living (this could indicate John might have passed away between 1901 and 1916 (again... IF this is right family).
If/when this connection IS confirmed, many Daley obits that might provide more connections.

Oft referred to as "Lizzie." Was listed as Lizzie and 15 years of age in the 1881 Census of Clarence, Annapolis, Nova Scotia. This is surely the Lizzie M. appearing in the 1901 Culloden Census as wife of "Alfred".

Mrs. Lizzie Handspiker
Mrs. Lizzie May Handspiker, widow of James Alfred Handspiker, passed away at her Mount Pleasant residence. Born at Port Lorne, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late David and Leah Milberry. She was a member of the Port Lorne Baptist Church. Her husband predeceased her in 1937. Surviving are two daughters, Laura (Mrs. Ernest VanTassel), Mount Pleasant, and Dora (Mrs. Ainsley Handspiker), also of Mount Pleasant. Funeral service was held on Monday afternoon, Rev. James Brooks, conducting the service, and interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Digby.
