[164] Sometimes listed as "Edson". He's mentioned in the "Book of Remembrance" as dying in World War I, page 423. Shown as a member of the 25th Battallion, no mention of which Brigade, etc, or any further information. His rank is listed as Private. This info was found at http://www.schoolnet2.carleton.ca/books/ww1/ww1423.htm - should that page remain active, as long as this one.

Is listed as Edison L. Handspiker in 1901 Census in family of Alfred and Lizzie.

Listed as dying in Wheatly at the "Welsh Hospital".(Victoria Hospital). on his marker stone in the Grace United - Fairview Methodist Cemetery in Digby.

Memorial posted Digby Courier 4-Feb-1921:
"In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Pte. Edison T. Handspiker who died in the Victoria Hospital, England, 5-Feb-1918 'Gone but not forgotten' - Parents and sisters."

Edison signed his "Attestation Paper" to enlist in WWI on 24-Jan-1916. The Attestation number was 733773, and the unit at the top of the paper was 112th Battalion C.E.F. In his physical description, he is noted as 5'6" tall, 140 lbs., had a 33 1/2 inch chest, light complexion, grey eyes, light hair, was a Methodist, was noted "Fit" for duty, on 4th of March, 1916, and was "certified" on 10-Jul-1916. Possibly meaning he actually began his service around that time.

[1879] From the files of Susan McMahan:

Canton, Ohio, 27 June 1884.

"The first reunion of the descendents of the Peter Kinney family was held on the
old farm on Sunday the 22nd. Peter Kinney and his estimable wife, Elizabeth May
Kinney settled in the southeast corner of Canton township about the year 1812.
They passed by the fertile plains where Canton now stands and took up their abode
among the hills and woods in the southern part of the township. They found nothing
but the heavy forest and their accustomed inhabitants, bears, wolves, deer, etc.,
to keep them company. They built their cabin and commenced life. Not only did
they labor during the day but often at night they were compelled to keep vigilant
watch of the wild animals to protect themselves and property from being destroyed.
They applied themselves diligently to clearing the land, and the time came for them
to sow and reap abundant harvests. These people were noted for their generosity
and hospitality, and were known far and near by all the inhabitants of this new
country. To this pair were born eleven children, nine of whom grew to man and
womanhood, and at the present time we can locate the descendents of this pair in
eight States, one west of the Rockies as far as the "Golden Gate." One whom we had
all given up as having paid the debt of Nature, suddenly made his appearance among
us.

[978] Diane is dau. of Jack Walker and his first wife. Since I have only Kathleen Daley as Jack's wife, am listing under unknown wife, until sure of connections. COULD also be a different Jack Walker who was father to Diane, but this is VERY likely the correct connection.
