Birth/Death info from SSDI. SSAN was 028-03-3570, and was issued in Massachusetts.
Quite likely the same Avard Stephenson who appears in US Census for 1930, living in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts:
Possibly at 231 Upland Road, Cambridge:
Stephenson, Avard, Head, owned, $3100, Radio, m, w, 51, M-30, NS, NS, NS, arr: 1904, clerk at the Meat Market.
", Edmonda, wife, f, w, 46, M-25, NS, NS, arr: 1905
Mary D., dau, f, w, 17, S, MA, NS, NS,
Robert E., son, m, w, 15, S, MA, NS, NS,
Barbara, dau, f, w, 12, S, MA, NS, NS,
Then, at #233 Upland:
Stephenson, Mary R., head, rent($40), radio, f, w, 75, Wd, NS, NS, NS, arr: 1903
Gaffney, Henry, s-i-l, m, w, 50, M-46, Can, Can, Can, arr: 1890, clerk at the post office
", Pearl, dau, f, w, 44, M-40, NS, NS, NS, arr: 1903
", Mary E., g.dau, f, w, 1.5, S, MA, Can, NS,
Bemis, Alicia, dau, f, w, 47, Wd, NS, NS, NS
This indicates Avard and "Edmonda" married around 1909, which may make sense, as Alice and Avard married in 1903, in NB, perhaps she died before 1909, or, they divorced. It would surely explain why they had no family that anyone is aware of, as of Oct-2003. Rather odd that a man would marry in late 1903, and be moving to the US a year later. Though Alice MAY have moved there with him, and passed away 4-5 years later???
1920 US Census for same:
Stevenson, Abbot H, head, m, w, 41, M, 1905/Na.1917,
", Edmonda, wife, f, w, 36, M, 1907/Na.1909,
", Dorothy, dau, f, w, 7, S,
", Robert, son, m, w, 5, S,
", Barbara, dau, f, w, 2, S,
Next house down:
Stevenson, Mary R, head, f, w, 65, Wd, 1903, Al,
", Pearl, dau, f, w, 33, S, 1903, Al,
Other info same, but used Canada vice Nova Scotia, and, of coure, Stevenson, vice Stephenson.
