According to the 1838 Digby Census, the only listed Anderton is a James Anderton, School Teacher in Hillsbugh Township. Listed with one male below 14 years of age and two females above 14 years of age, for a total of 4 in the family. It is POSSIBLE that John Anderton (who married Margaret Campbell) was the son under 14, though it could also have been his father or uncle.
Perhaps this same James is listed on an Annapolis County Land Grant Map (#21), as "Anderton, James 8" The "8" apparently stands for area, and in this case for the "Perotte" area. Also, this particular listing at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nsannapo/lgmap21.html mentions no date for this
grant. The "Land Grants" sub-page does indicate the map is available from the Nova Scotia Natural Resource, in Halifax, for a cost of $5.00. THEIR homepage is: http://www.gov.ns.ca/natr/library/histmaps.htm
Found much informatoin on John and family in 1880 Census for Gloucester, Massachusetts. Which also indicated John and Margaret's parents were all born in N.S. as well.

Wilbur is listed under both Rebecca and a possibly "2nd mother", Agnes Farris. It's interesting to note, that, under Rebecca, Wilbur's middle name is Springer, but, on the record with Agnes, no middle name was listed. I'm suspecting that Agnes was a wife, SHORTLY after Rebecca's passing (or divorce??), and due to the proximity of dates, elsewhere, the "powers-that-be" saw fit to assign Agnes as Wilbur's mother (this is JUST a theory). I'm adding Wilbur to both mothers, just to be on the safe side. This note will suffice as explanation, in the interim.
WILBUR HANSELPACKER (M), LEBARON HANSELPACKER, AGNES FARRIS, 30 March 1896, CAMBRIDGE, QU and the following helps to totally confuse the situation, also from PANB...
