Richard Gerald "Joker" VanTassell, Richard Gerald "Joker" - 73, Digby, died April 29, 2002, in Digby General Hospital. Born in Digby, he was a son of the late Gerald and Lillian (Morrison) VanTassell. Surviving are daughters, Teresa (Mrs. Peter Rutkowski), Digby; Marie (Mrs. Glendon Small), East Ferry; brothers, Lovitt, Cornwallis Park, Annapolis Co.; Alfred, Ontario; Jerry, Waterville, Kings Co.; sisters, Sharon (Mrs. Gary Handspiker), Conway; Diane Burns, Ottawa; Jean, Dartmouth; Carol (Mrs. Phillip Frigault), Ottawa; Sheila (Mrs. Vaughn Porter), Digby; grandchildren, Heatherleigh, Adam, Jessica, Rachel; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Warren, Burgess. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday both in Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby, Rev. Donald Robertson officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
