SHIPPY SPURR LENT came to Freeport from Weymouth about 1840, but earlier, had lived at Granville, Annapolis County. Shippy was born at Clements, Annapolis County, 30 May, 1792, a son of Abraham Lent and Eleanor Spurr. (Abraham Lent was son of Adolph Lent and Cassie Harring; Eleanor Spurr was daughter of Michael Spurr and Jane Shippee, who came to Annapolis, from Massachusetts, in 1760, on the CHARMING MOLLY . Shippy Spurr Lent married (1) Hannah Cook (2) Mrs. Mary (Powell) Warner, a widow.
Shippy Spurr Lent died at Freeport, 30 Sept. 1850, of consumption ( TB).

(1) - James Lent, b. Granville, 26 Oct 1815 - died in West Indies, aft. 1856. James married Sarah Elizabeth Brinton (b. 24 Dec. 1817, Bridgetown, N.S. - d. 14 March 1909, Lynn, Mass.). After James died, Sarah married B. R. Hains, of Freeport.
(2) - Francis E. Lent, b. Weymouth 4 Nov 1817. He married Elizabeth J. Brinton at Wilmot, in 1836. They lived at Granville. Francis was a Shoemaker.
(3) - Eliza Ann Lent, b. Weymouth 13 Feb 1820, md. Barnard McNeil, of Freeport. After Eliza died, Barnard married Elizabeth Doty, daughter of William R. Doty.
(4) - Lucretia Lent, b. Weymouth 22 Jan 1822 - died Freeport 30 May 1861, of consumption. Lucretia married at Freeport on 20 Dec 1838, to Benjamin N. Thurber (20 Oct 1816 - 12 Feb 1893). Their children were : Melissa (b. 1839), Eli (b.1843), William Price (b. 1845), Edward L. (b. 1846), Byron A. (b. 1847), Annie (b.1850), Almina & Sabina(twins born 1859), and Clara(b. 1861). Benjamin married 2nd to Maria Prime, daughter of Benjamin Prime Sr. and Mary Ann Hersey, and had five more children.
(5)- Elinor Jane Lent, b. 27 Oct. 1824 -d. 4 July 1836. .
(6) - William Jabez Lent, b. Weymouth 22 Sept 1826 - d. Little River 13 August 1904. William married 1st: Hannah Isreal . 2nd : her sister, Sarah Israel. 3rd: at Weymouth, 15 Oct 1901, to Caroline Rosena Amirault.
(7) - Bethiah Lent, b. Weymouth, 7 Oct 1828 - d. Freeport 16 April (1862 ?). Bethiah married Nathan James Thurber, about 1846, at Freeport. Nathan James Thurber (b. 9 Aug 1826 - 19 April 1906), married 2nd : 15 Nov 1862, Triphenia Morrell.
(8) Cunningham Lamb Lent, b. Weymouth, 2 Nov 1830 - d. Freeport, 10 July 1864. Cunningham married Eliza Israel, of Freeport on 28 Nov 1852 , daughter of Balsor (or Balthazar) and Sarah Israel. Five children. Eliza (b. ca. 1833) married 2nd: Cormack McDormand on 19 Oct 1876.
(9) - Abraham Lent, b. Weymouth 25 August 1832 - d. 1885, at Freeport. Abraham Lent married 16 Nov 1856, to Elizabeth Brown, of Yarmouth. Elizabeth married 2nd: Gilbert Lent (1st cousin of 1st husband).
(10) - Zilpha Rebecca Lent, b. Weymouth, 24 April 1835 - 19 June 1914, at Freeport.
Zilpha married William Henry Thurber, on 22 Dec 1853. William H. Thurber (b.24 March 1829, Freeport - 20 Jan 1911, Freeport). 10 children.

(11) - Shippy Lent Jr. - b. 5 Nov 1838 - d. March 1876, at Moreville, Michigan. Shippy Lent Jr. married Euphemia Augusta Moore, of Freeport,on 23 Dec 1839, daughter of William and Mary Moore. Children were : - Emma, George W., Frank S., Minnie D., W. DeLeslie, Frederick, and May Clair.
JOHN SHIPPY LENT (b. ca 1836 - d. 26 Sept 1877, of Cholera, at Batavia, Java, East Dutch Indies). John Shippy Lent, a son of James Lent and Sarah E. Brinton was a Master Mariner ( Deep-sea Captain). He married Melissa Thurber, daughter of Benjamin N. Thurber and Lucretia Lent -- Melissa and John Shippy were 1st cousins. At the time of John Shippy Lent's death, he was Master of the barque, J.W.OLIVER,and was in the Dutch East Indies, accompanied by his wife, four children, and his brother, Manning Lent, his First Mate on the vessel.

Charles Lent, brother of John Shippy Lent, drowned 20 Dec 1860. Lost overboard from his father's vessel, on a trip to St. John, N.B.(age 21). He was born on 30 May 1792 at
Clements, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was the son of
Abraham Adolph Lent and
Eleanor Spurr. Shippy Spurr Lent married
Hannah Cook, daughter of
Mannaseh Cook, in 1814 at
Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Shippy Spurr Lent died on 30 September 1850 at
Freeport, Nova Scotia, Canada, at age 58.
