MAY be the John McLean referenced in "In Duty Bound" as follows:
Licensed: Waterborough 13-Oct-1818 "John McLean was said to be one of the "first of His Majesty's Loyal subjects to settle in the Province." Although location is not given, it was said that he had been previously employed as a teacher. The subscribers said they believed he would be able to teach to their satisfaction "as a teacher of small children." He was one of the earliest teachers to be licensed after the Act of 1816. Taught at Waterborough from 1818 to 1821 and in York County, from 1822-1829.
