From the looks of things, Royal was (in 1890) listed in the Vermont State Prison in Windsor County, included on their Veteran's Schedule. He had been a private in K Co. 9th NH Inf, from 23-Sep-186? to 186? and suffering from chronic rheumatism.
Searching further, he also served in the 6th NH Inf, and the 1st NH Inf.
Pension records indicate Royal filed as an invalid in 1887, in VT, and later, an Inez M. Ricker (Gdn?) filed in 1899, after Royal passed away. It listed her in the 'minor' section, so MAY have been a relation.
