Daniel Strang was naturalized; JUSTICE - 1693. He Left France in 1688, arrived in the Colonies that year at New Rochelle, New York. In 1698, was listed in Rye, NY. Sometimes referred to as Strong vice Strang, and even Strange. Original French spelling was 'L'Estrange'.
Will of Daniel Streing of Rye, NY:
'Gentleman.' Leaves to wife Charlotte use of goods for life. The estate after her death to go to my children (not named) except 5 pounds extraordinary to my son Daniel.'
Witnesses: Oliver Besby, Isaac Messier and Orlando Payne.

'This name, sometimes written 'Strang', is a sad corruption of the original form L'Estrange. Daniel L'Estrange was born in Paris in 1656, he married Charlotte, daughter of Francis Hubart, and had children Daniel, Henry, Gabriel, Penelope - wife of Samuel Purdy, Mary - wife of John Budd, and Lucy - wife of ? Davis.' He was born between 1656 and 1661 at
Orleans, France. He died in 1705/6. He left a will on 11 February 1706.
