Reference: HFWEST-1. Archibald Leman West
was naturalized; Electrician. He Many dates from 'Westy' confirmed by 1920 US Census for Methuen, Essex, Massachusetts, USA (ED 214).
Archibald is listed as 35 in the 1920 Census. Prior b.d. was @1883, have changed it to @1884 to reflect a more likely date. He was listed as an electrician for a woolen mill, residing at 177 Lowell Street in Methuen.
Archibald living in Lawrence, Essex, Massachusetts in 1910 US Census.
The family resided at #42 Kendrick Street.
West, Archibald, Head, 27, b. MA, fa: VT mo: ME, electrician in a mill
West, Lillian, Wife, 26, b. MA, fa: Ger. mo: Ger.
West, Esther, daughter, 2, b. MA fa: MA mo: MA,
Schileg?, Freida, GMother-in-law, 65, b. Germany, parents-same,
Blaser, Arthur, bro-in-law, 18, b. MA, fa: Ger. mo: Ger., operator in a mill.
Additional records indicate Archibald and Lillian had been married just 3 years (@1906/07). Also, that Freida had four children, with only one living (this is QUITE odd, as we have Arthur in residence, with Lillian! Perhaps, as sometimes happened, the census taker was not precise in instructions? Or was Freida not mother to one of the two siblings, Lillian and Arthur? It also indicates she arrived in the US in 1876, and was married @1878 or so.
In 1900 Census, lists birth month/year as Mar-1883. This agrees with original 1883, but not with date of December. Wonder if December was month baptised???
1930 US Census, Andover, Essex, Massachusetts, District 9, Sup. Dist. 6, Sheet 2A, residence APPEARS to be #21 Pine:
West, Archibald, head, 46, M-23, MA, VT, ME, Electrician at Power House
West, Lillian, wife, 45, M-22, MA, Ger., Ger., none
West, Esther, dau., 21, MA, MA, MA, B??ling at Woolen Mill

West, Howard, son, 12, MA, MA, MA,
West, Ellen, dau., 5, MA, MA, MA,
West, Leman, father, 80, Wid-24, VT, VT, VT,
In 1930, Archibald owned his home (value $6,000), married @1907, not sure if the Wid-24 indicates Leman was widowed in 1905 or 1906 or if has other meaning. IF it is what I THINK it is, the 24 should be 14, as Elizabeth passed away in 1916.
