NORTHFIELD ? Dorothy H. Lane, 98, lifelong resident of Northfield, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin.

She was born in Northfield, Aug. 1, 1907, the daughter of Samuel and Jennie (Averill) Hubbard. She is a graduate of Northfield High School, class of 1923.

She married Earle F. Lane in Barre, on June 17, 1926. Mr. Lane died Dec. 31, 1967.

Mrs. Lane was a member of the United Church of Northfield and past member of the Ladies Reading Circle. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and loved to play classical music on her piano.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Lane of Northfield; one nephew, Robert Berry; three great-nieces, Alison Berry, Lisa Saunders and Linda Lucia; one great-nephew, Edward Berry; one great-great-niece, Alyssa Saunders; and one great-great-nephew, Turner Royce.

She is predeceased by one sister, Ethel Berry; and two brothers, H. Dwight Hubbard and Howard Hubbard.

Calling hours will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kingston Funeral Home, 35 Slate Ave., Northfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 1 p.m. at the United Church in Northfield, followed by burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in Northfield.
