John Stockbridge (M)
b. 1608, d. 13 October 1657

John Stockbridge Listed as 'of Scituate, Plymouth, MA' in birth place section of record. Believe if he was of Plymouth, and was born 1608, he was not born on these shores. He is also said to have married Elizabeth Hatch in 1643. Obviously, he died shortly after his son was born. He was born in 1608 at England. He died on 13 October 1657 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, USA.

b. 18 July 1630, d. 28 May 1687

Moses Cox Also married later to Prudence (Marston) Swaine, 16-Jun-1658, Hampton, NH.
Have seen his year of birth listed as early as 1594, with same date of death.

Given date of marriage as 1640, find it rather hard to believe 1630 is a date of birth.
SUSPECT the 1630 date is a date of baptism, and possibly as an adult. Therefore, claims to his parents being Mosts Cox and Alice Perkins seem far-fetched. ANOTHER possibility is that Alice Wise and Alice Perkins were the same person? One a maiden name, the other a married? That would make a difference in YOB, as Alice Perkains listed as b. 1613, married to Moses Cox, b. 1594, which is surely a possibility at some levels.

AGAIN, another family that requires some serious digging and a far better accounting on dates and places, people and such.

In some records, Moses Cox, b. 1630, is listed as s/o Moses Cox b. 1594 and Alice Perkins b. 1613. BOTH Moses' married to both Alices are listed with identical dates of death (28-May-1687). If a man b. 1594 died 1687, aged... oh... 93, in THOSE days??? Well, I'd be MIGHTY surprised.

MY THEORY: Moses b. probably in 16 (teens), England, baptized as an adult in England or the Colonies in 1630, MAY have been son of another Moses Cox, but still am tentative on the Alice Perkins vs. Alice Wise possibilities, as 1613 and 1620 not all that far apart, and if he WAS born @1615 or so, either is a possible wife of the Moses who died 28-May-1687.

Both Alices died in 1657, though Alice Perkins listed dying in England!!! on 20-October, while Alice Wise, listed dying 20-AUG-1657, at Hampton River, Rockingham Co, NH. He was baptized circa 1630 at Romsey, Hampshire, England. He was born on 18 July 1630 at Hampton, England. He married Alice Wise, daughter of Humphrey Wise and Susan Tidd, in 1639/40 at Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA. Moses Cox died on 28 May 1687 at Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA, at age 56.

Josiah (Josias?) Piper WARNING: As of Feb-2006, the line of ascent from Thomas H. Piper (b. 1814) to Josiah, here, is highly in question. Though many facts would support this line IS the correct line, too many assumptions can cause severe 'muddling' of what is, at least at this point, a valuable theoretical assessment of a 'most probable' solution.

Josiah/Josias is said to have been of Culliton House in 'Northam, Devon, England'.'

Though this line seems to be the accepted line for the Piper ancestry going to Magnus, I wonder about a man being born in 1597, to a man who was born before 1540. This means John Piper, who'd already been married 30 years, 'suddenly' has a son at age 58! Not impossible, by any means, but rare would be an understatement. The chances of there existing a 'missing generation' are probably greater than the proposed truth. As this is not a direct line of my own, I present it here merely as it has been documented for years. (JWH - 2006). He was born circa 1597 at Northam, Devonshire, England. PROBABLY Elliot A., based on visual of scan.

Elliot A. Bourne was in Company L, 5th US Artillery
Company A., 4th VT Infantry.

Some off the wall possibilities... Cora's mother MAY have been Susan, if Elliott transcribed as 'M. A. Bourne' and age 33 in 1870. IF so, then he was working in Rutland as a 'R.R. Knight Agent'. both he and she b. VT.

Was Elliott related to Asa B. Bourne, and his wife, Patience? These two found in Wallingford, VT in 1870 Census Asa (or Asahel) B. Bourne, b. @1814, NH, Patience b. @1823, VT Patience was widow, living with son, John, in Rutland Co, VT in 1900.

If Asahel, then b. or chr. 30-May-1813, Richmond, Cheshire Co, NY, s/o Nathaniel Bourn and Mary Cass. (no E) Also seen as Boorn, though believe that a simple misspelling. He was born circa 1840 at Vermont, USA.
