My concerns are that, quite possibly, the brother of Richard was the one born 1650's, and the SON, THIS John, was the one born 1672/73. However, since this information was gleaned from Rowley, Massachusetts Vital Records, I don't have much of a leg to stand on in my theory... Just indicating a level of concern regarding the accuracy of the VRs for that town. There are indications that Richard had a brother, John... but he was 'of Ipswich' as early as 1648, so couldn't have been born 1672/3 OR 1650's!!! He was born on 2 February 1652 at Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA. He was the son of Richard Leighton and Mary UNKNOWN. John Leighton married Martha Cheney on 4 June 1691 at Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA. John Leighton died on 4 December 1714 at Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA, at age 62.
