Ryck Abrahamsen Van Lent Born around the same time his parents emigrated from Holland to the New World. Could have been born prior, during, or after the sailing. I've not yet received the history on the name, as many list him simply as Ryck Abrahamsen. No idea when or why the 'Van Lent' was added. I would have to presume that the area of Holland the de Rycks came from may have been Lent. Though, the 'de Ryck' may also be an indicator of from where, as much as from whom descended.
Unsure how the following actually fits, but it's surely related to this family group:
'Likely related to Ryck Abrahamsen Lent, Manor of Cortlandt. In whose will is mentioned his eldest son Abraham, another son, Harick Lent, children of his late son Ryck, late daughter Elizabeth Hyatt, and his daughter Katharine, wife of Joseph Jones. Ryck's will was dated 30-Mar-1720 and proved on 8-Mar-1723. It is also stated of Ryck: 'His daughter, Sarah, was wife of Joseph Budd. Ryck was the eldest son of Abraham Rychen. He married Catrina, d/o Harck Siboutsen. He was an elder in the Sleepy Hollow Church and very much respected.' Ryck had a son, Hercules, who had children with very similar names already known to be common in this Lent family.' He was born in 1637. He was the son of
Abraham de Ryck Van Lent and
Gertje (Gretie) Hendricks.
