Notes: Came to Annapolis (later Digby) County from Woodbrige, in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Whether or not he was BORN in NJ is another question.

Could Stephen and "Mrs." also have been parents of Mary Arnold, who married John Mills on 24-Aug-1805 at Trinity Anglican Church, Digby?

Gedothan Bishop & Jane Arnold, spinster,
both of this Parish, by Banns Jan 2nd, 1827

15. DEACON ROBERT4 MCDORMAND (ROBERT3, ROBERT2, WILLIAM1) was born Abt. 1786 in Gullivers Cove, Annapolis Co., NS, and died Aft. 1861. He married (1) REBECCA ARNOLD Abt. 1813 in Digby Co., NS, daughter of PHINEAS ARNOLD and JENNY ARCHIBALD. Sh e was born Abt. 1790 in Digby Co., NS, and died Abt. 1830 in Freeport, Digby Co., NS. He married (2) JANE Abt. 1834 in Freeport, Digby Co., NS. She was born Aft. 1813 in Nova Scotia, and died Abt. 1861.

Guess would be that Phineas was younger brother to Stephen Arnold. His children born abt. same timeframe +10 years of those of Stephen and "Mrs. Stephen" Arnold.

(iv) Robert (McDormand) b.1787 d. after 1861 m.1. Rebecca Arnold baptized 20 July 1794 at Sissaboo, NS, daughter of Phineas Arnold and Jenny Archibald of Digby. Robert and Rebecca were probably married in Digby about 1810 and shortly afterwards mo ved to Freeport, Long Island, NS. They were both members of the Brier Island Church on 8 July 1828. Robert married 2. Jane (Unknown) who died in 1861. Robert and Rebecca (or perhaps Rebecca had died and it was Robert and his second wife Jane ) left Freeport about 1830 and moved to Ontario.

Phineas and Joseph Arnold were in Stump's Company, 1784 Must Roll - Digby
Phineas was from Port Mouton... is that significant? Was he related to Stephen the Loyalist? Surely to Joseph, but, was Stephen of a different Arnold family?

Janet Turnbull, b. 10-Jul-1829, d/o George Arnold. She married George Andrew Turnbull ?? she died 17-May-1880.

Stephen Arnold (Loyalist)... possibilities:

In RI records, there was a Stephen Arnold who was married to Ann, and father of Benedict, b. 14-Mar-1756 (Benedict was). Also, a Stephen Arnold s/o William and Alice, b. 21-Dec-1765.

A listing from the Hamilton Spectator (Ontario) listed the following death, which is of interest mostly due to the close proximity in age this James Arnold would have been to Stephen. Could James have been a brother or... could Stephen have bee n Stephen James/James Stephen Arnold? Here's the very brief "obit"...

"August 19, 1846
Arnold Died at Wellington Square, on Wednesday, the 16th instant, Mr. James Arnold , aged 88 years."

Notes: Died "in childbed" which makes me think this would mean in childbirth? Was there another child born 1791? If so, did the child survive?
