One source indicates Samuel died 17-Mar-1899 (possibly at Ashfield). Need to clarify, but have seen more works referencing the 1884 date.

There is often confusion between some of these Eldridge generations, as there was always family in the Ashfield area, as well as back in Barnstable. The 1860 Census for Mass, is what I believe causes the potential confusion between the Samuel D. Eldridges. In Conway, appears Samuel D. Eldridge, age 31, while in Barnstable, appears ANOTHER Samuel D. Eldridge, age 39. SOME room for possible confusion, in others' research????

This is VERY Likely the same Samuel as married Temperance Hall/etc.

Have found another confusion, starting in this generation. There is a secondary parentage line for Samuel. Some sources indicate Samuel Eldredge (who married Temperance Hall and others) was the son of Samuel Eldredge and Lydia Hall. However, the included line, which goes back to 1419, is an the more accepted path, based on Samuel (b. 1767)

Likely brothers or cousins of Samuel, based on early Ashfield records (1700's), are Eli, Levi, and possibly Lemuel (though believe him to be son of Levi. How she ended up a Hall can only be presumed, as by another marriage for Lydia. This surely gets confusing! This is truly the only Louisa Sears that fits 'our' Louisa. She was born on 2 May 1857. She was the daughter of W. H. Sears and Louisa E. Eldridge. Louisa Sears married William Phelps on 14 April 1882. Louisa Sears died on 4 January 1890 at age 32.
