Notes: WOW, what a tangled web!! ANYWAY, one researcher who shows son, Asa, b. 1824, d. 1888, also listed a maria Elizabeth Porter-Specht as 1822-23-Aug-1888. This fits for Maria, based on other information, but a bit late birth year for Asa, if it is , indeed, the same one.
Notes: Some interesting stories about Sarah. Family lore has it that she left her two sons, Jonas and Asa, with her father, sometime shortly after 1820 (when Jonas was born). She apparently left Anthony/Christopher with reason. No idea on where Sara h was, while the boys were being raised by their grandfather. As they were raised in the Porter home, they took on their mother's and grandfather's surname of Porter, rather than keeping the SPECHT of their father. Questions abound. Was it infidelity on Sarah's part, and both or one of the boys wasn't actually a Specht to begin with? Was there domestic violence? Was Anthony/Christopher an adulterer? So much will likely never be known, yet we do know tha t the boys were both born while she was married to Mr. Specht. One researcher has Sarah listed as Sarah O. Porter, and marrying 2nd to James Stanley Wright, problem is, that Sarah Porter was born @1842, and James was b. @1839, and the children we re born from 1860-1883 or so. Not likely for a woman born 1796!!! What is interesting is where Sarah was living in 1871 and 1881. She is found in the home of James P. M. Porter. Not sure if a son, or nephew. SUSPECT another son, but IF so, by whom? After all, he was born in 1841! Maybe a grandson? Here's the 1871/81/91 Digby Census for James P. M. Porter: PORTER, James P.M. P 30m - - Hannah M. 24m 33w - Frederick W.H. 4 14 - Alexander 2 12 - Ella May Nov'70 10 - Sarah 76w 86w - This is Sarah Marr Porter, da/o Asa Porter and Sarah Marr Bertha - 8 - Guey (s) - 6 16 with Zeiglars Estelle - 2 12 with Zeiglars FUNNY... LDS 1881 Canada Census shows Sarah living with Asa (son) in 1881 Census.
