It would appear this John was born in Cornwall, as from all indications, his father was also John, who married an Elizabeth on 24-Nov-1827 at Quethiock, Cornwall, England. If so, John had a sister, Eliza, b. 10-Jul-1828 at Linkinhorne, Cornwall.

Notes: Be wary of Susan Arnolds. One, b. 1837, surely dau. of Samuel Arnold and Effie Weaver. Another, born a generation later is dau of Thomas Arnold (grandaughter of Phoebe Ann UNK - 2nd wife of Samuel Arnold the Elder).
Bothered that Susan is listed as Susan Arnold, residing with parents in 1881 Census for Bayham! While Susan is also listed with husband, John, in Colchester North, Essex, Ontario, same age...??? Unless, of course, this Susan married to Joh n is incorrect, or, we have the wrong Samuel Arnold??
The "Vosper" genealogy indicates the Susan who married John Vosper was born in 1836, at Coburg, Northumberland Co, Ontario... It further indicates the two children, Mary and William were also born in Coburg, so not sure her own origins are anymor e than guesswork, based on birth place of children. A posting in a guestbook by George Vosper in 2002, indicates this John who was born in Cornwall, didn't emigrate until the 1960s:
"George Vosper in Walnut Creek CA 94598 at 22:5:26 Thursday July 18 2002
My great-grandfather John Vosper, born 1829 in Quethiock, emigrated to Ontario in 1960. His brother Thomas Vosper was still living at the Haye farm in Quethiock in 1912."

I've been trying to learn more about this branch of the Arnolds, but don't have any thing very tangible to offer. I'm looking for a Susan Arnold, b.~1850, m. to John Vosper of England. I don't have her birthdate, but she did have one son, Willia m Wilberforce Vosper, born 1876. Susan is the daughter of Samuel Arnold. My husband's family lore has always held that they are descended from Benedict Arnold, and the family did live in Port Burwell, ONT during Susan's generation.
