Notes: In Wiggins (A/93) we find, William, a U.E. Loyalist, was born in Scotland and settled in the American States in 1773. He came to St. John in 1783 in the ship Otter, Captain Burns; with his wife and three children. Subsequently he removed to the Gr and Lake, and settled on the farm now owned by his grandsons, David and Henry Balmaire. While visiting his son-in-law, Barzilla Bailey, in St. John in the autumn of 1809, he accidentally fell from a window and was killed, aged seventy-two.

"BALMAINE. William, a U. E. Loyalist, was born in Scotland and settled in the American States in 1773. He came to St. John in 1783 in the ship, Otter, Captain Burns, with his wife and three children. Subsequently he removed to Grand Lake, and sett led on the farm now owned by his grandsons, David and Henry Balmaine. While visiting his son-in-law, Barzilla Bailey, in St. John
in the autumn of 1809, he accidentally fell from a window and was killed, aged seventy-two. His wife's maiden name was Margaret Niven. Their children were; John married Janet Easton; William, to Nellie Watt; Henry, to Elizabeth Brill; Christine , to Charles McAlpine; Margaret, to Barzilla Bailey; Julia, to John Hanselpecker; Magdalen, to William Clark; Catherine, never married; Mary, to William Taylor. Julia died suddenly, when to all appearance, in perfect health. His daughters, Cathari ne Clark and Magdalen Smith, died in the same manner. Barzilla, son of John; Carleton, son of William; David and Henry, sons of Henry, are comfortable farmers in Scotchtown.

Charles and John, sons of John Balmaine, went to Australis in the brig Australia, where the latter still lives. Charles died, when returning to New Brunswick from California."

Notes: Have also seen the name Christina Nevins listed as wife of William and mother of Julia. However, same record indicates she died in Glasgow. If so, she died JUST before William came to the Colonies from Scotland. It also means he would have arrive d with very few to no children. It ALSO would be a means of negating this Christina as mother of Julia, as Julia was born in 1783, possibly ten years or more after William arrived in Colonies.
