Notes:
Notes: Have had issues with Ruth, as in some records she was listed as Ruth Clifford. Was she married to a Clifford? Doesn't appear to be the case, though for now have listed as 2nd marriage, as her burial is as a Clifford, but wife of Handspiker!!! YIKE S! Only Ruth Vantassel that fits closely is daughter of Jacob and Betsy/Elizabeth. PROBLEM... THAT Ruth b. 22-Feb-1828 and christened 28-Aug-1828, so why be baptized as an adult? Not impossible, just not as likely that an error exists on exactly wh o Ruth truly is... Vantassel or Clifford? Gravemarker states surname was Clifford, possibly by birth, may have married a VanTassel, prior to marrying Ross? Dates are identical. Was she dau. of Jacob VT or possibly Byron Clifford? Much to figure out! This is how her record for buria l looks: "Ruth Clifford Sept. 30, 1889 59 years old Wife of Ross .C. C. Handspiker". Digby Obituary: Oct. 11, 1889---At Tiverton, on the 30th. of Sept. after two years suffering with cancer, Ruth , beloved wife of Ross C. Handspiker in the 59th year of her age. [The deceased was baptized in 1868 by Rev. Isiah Wallace and was a mem ber of the Tiverton Baptist Church and died trusting in the Lord.] The obituary would INDICATE she was a Handspiker at date of death, so it's still a bit of a mystery as to her "original" surname/maiden name. In her cemetery listing for Pleasant Hill, she's listed with a Delbert S. Clifford, b. 29-Jun-1901 d. 10 -Nov-1975 and his wife, Pearl P. Clifford, 03-Aug-1904 - 25-Apr-1951. What was HER relation to THEM, if any? Can't be mother of Delbert, as he was born after she died!
