Born in Mount Pleasant, Digby Co., he was a son of Dorothy (Titus) Handspiker, Digby and the late Nelson Handspiker. He wa s a welder, having worked offshore and with Archie's Welding, New Minas, Delhaven Farms and V.C. Kinsman and Son. He is survived by his former wife, Joan (Mattison), Sackville; daughters, Kimberley, Ontario; Ann, Calgary, Alta.; Karen, Halifax; co mmon-law spouse, Linda Fraser, Delhaven; her children, Kevin and Larry, both of New Minas; Terri, Fredericton, N.B.; Cindy, Kentville; brothers, Beverley and Curtis, both of Digby; sisters, Marilyn Poirier, Moncton, N.B.; Virginia (Harry Lewis), Digby; five grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Leona Dorothy in infancy and Barbara. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, with funeral service 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 , both in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville, Rev. Karl Uhrstrom officiating. Burial 3 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery, Digby. Donations in memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
