What could prove ultimately confusing is that a John Gable Handspiker married an Eva Barnes, while John Gabriel Gavel married Eval Amero. The two husbands names are separated mostly by the "Handspiker", as Gabriel and Gavel COULD be confused wit h Gable (an adoption possibly?).With the whole Barnes/Amero problem, the question arises as to whether or not there was some major confusion going on, or is it merely coincidence? Since parents were given for Eva Barnes as BARNES, I'm prone to be lieve it was merely coincidence, but comment is made here to tie in these two possibly conflicting marriages.

Eva might have been married before John Gavel, as she is said to have had a son named Charles Amero. Is this the same Charles, listed last among her children with John? Or, did Charles Amero die young, before Charles Gavel was born? Or was he li sted as Amero in some record, purely by accident? Either way, he predeceased his mother, as the following obit indicates:

Mrs John Gavel ,81 of Centerville,Digby Co. died Wednesday at the Victoria General Hospital , Halifax.. Born in Plympton ;she was the former Eva Elizabeth Amero , a daughter of the late Frederick and Abby [Saulnier ]Amero. She is survived by fiv e daughters, Katherine , Weymouth; Mrs Annie Steward , Digby ; Gertrude [Mrs Frank Graham] and Stella [Mrs Elwood Titus] both of Centerville ; Margaret [Mrs Keith Hartland] of Victoria BC; two sons Stephen, Seabrook; George , Centerville and on e brother William ,Weymouth. She was predeceased by her husband , John and a son CHARLES. The body was at Jaynes Funeral Home, Digby. Funeral service was held Friday at 10am in the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church , Plympton, Rev. Rene LeBlanc of ficiating . Interment was in the church cemetery.
