Notes: Edward (and/or his father) was in Bergen County, New Jersey, as early as 16-Jan-1704, when he witnessed a land transaction of a Major John Berry to Juriaen Westervelt. The land in question, being situated between the Hackensack and Saddle Rivers . On 1-Sep-1716, it is MOST likely THIS Edward (Jr.), who, with wife Elisabeth, (then of Secaukus Island, Bergen County) sold to Henry Mayer (of New Barbadoes Creek, Bergen County) land on the Hackensack River (originally purchased by Edward Sr , then deceased), who sold it to Edward Jr. in 1710. The land is described as "between line of Nathaniel Kingsland and Bartholomew LaFeurt of New York and land of Hendrick Juriansen, Nicholas Kip and Thomas Francis... was purchased of Maj. Joh n Berry of New York City.... 2nd tract purchased by Edward Earle Sr. in 1704 ... Kothawak River." He is listed amongst the major landowners in Bergen County, New Jersey, in the Hudson/ Bergen history CD.
