Notes: A Havelock "Atkinson" b. 25-Aug-1856 appears in 1901 Canada census as b. NS and living with wife, Selina, in Cumberland Co, NS, as wel as mother, Mary, and sisters Sarah and Laura, 43 and 41, respectively. Problem is, aside from the approx yea r of birth from 1881 Census, this seems to be all that fits. Mary in 1901 census just mentioned was only 71, b. in 1830. 15 years of difference is a bit more than one would allow in such a case. Also, that Havelock also appears in 1911 Canada Ce nsus, whereby THIS one, the correct one, is found in US Census records of 1910, as follows: Though likely listed within, can NOT find this family in 1900 US Census in NY state. 1910 US Census for Dist. 633, Brooklyn Ward 24, Kings Co, NY, at 1912 Atlantic Ave (apparently a duplex type of building as one other large family in same residence): ADDISON: Havelock D., head, m, w, 53, M1-26, Can, Scot, Scot, arr: 1880, Awning Maker - shop Madelina (Madeline), wife, f, w, 45, M1-26, 4/4, NJ, Ger, UNK, none Alice, dau, f, w, 23, S, NY, Can, NJ, artificial flower decorator - houses Wallace, son, m, w, 21, S, NY, Can, NJ, photographer - photo engraving establishment George, son, m, w, 15, S, NY, Can, NJ, driver for a bakery
Notes: Had a sister, Elizabeth, who married a Mr. Smith (lots of help!) found listed with her and her daughter's family in 1930 Census for 75th St. in Queens. Elizabeth listed aged 57, b. NJ. Found as HoH in 1920 US Census for Brooklyn, Kings Co, NY, still residing at 1912 Atlantic Ave. Along with her daughter and two grandaughters, though a bit confusing, as follows: ADDISON, Madeline, head, f, w, 54, Wid, NJ, NY, NY, none SHIELDS, Alice, g.dau, f, w, 14, S, NY, NY, NY, none SHIELDS, Annenett, g. dau, f, w, 13, S, NY, NY, NY, none SHIELDS, Annenett, dau, f, w, 35, Wid, NY, Can, NJ, addresser for gas company. MIGHT be Madeline Tyson, b. NJ, father John, mother Catherine, both b. NY, sister Betsy, b. @1873/74. Family resided Jersey City in 1880.
