Notes: The Gormans MAY (like Patrick) originated in Donegal, Ireland, but surely they had removed west, possibly to Sligo, just before Ellen, as widow, left Ireland for Canada.

  • Name: Ellen UNKNOWN
  • Birth: in: Ireland
  • Death:
  • Father:
  • Mother:

Notes: Ellen arrived as a widow to New Brunswick in September of 1844. She'd moved possibly to Sligo, Ireland, before emigrating across "the Pond". She initially settled near Fredericton, NB, eventually moving to the Bird Settlement, which later was cal led Birdton. There is possibly some confusion amongst the NB Gormans, as many descend from Ellen's group, so others, at least initially, descended from the line of Patrick Gorman (Catholic). Patrick was born in Ireland @1790, while his wife, Cath erine was born in about 1805 in Ireland.

An Ellen Gorman arrived in port of St. John, NB in 1942, aged 60, widow w/ 4 children, from County Kerry. "Port of Saint John: Emigrant Poor 1842" (p. 45) This COULD very well be one and the same woman who arrived in Bird Settlement in 1844.
