Notes: Have reason to believe this Ferris line descends from those who came from Leicestershire, England, settling in Boston, then removing to Westchester County, New York. IF so, it is likely most of these Ferrises, if not all, descend from Jeffrey Fer ris, b. 1610, Leicestershire, England, d. 1666, Greenwich, CT. At least some of his children removed to Westchester Co, NY. He married twice, first to Mary Jackson, and second to Grace ???. He had at least one son by Mary named John, b. @1639 , probably in CT, who died 1715 in Flushing, LI, which has been indicated as a point of origin for the Ferris lines in Queens County, New Brunswick. Just as confusing as the Queens County clan, the ones on Long Island have their own twists. Jus t as Joseph had married a Mary then a Grace, John, his son, maried first to Mary, d/o Robert & Agnes (Washburne) Jackson!!! It's just very hard to believe these older records, sometimes. John and Mary had a daughter, Mary, b. 1704. John later ma rried Grace, who died in Flushing, Long Island in 1716. Children of John by one wife or the other, but most likely Grace: John, d. 1729, m. Elizabeth. Petery,b @1670s, m. Susannah Fowler. Mary, m. 1685/86 to Nathaniel Underhill. Samuel, b. 167 6, m bef. 1700 to Sarah, d/o John and Abigail (Hunt) Pinkney. James, b. 1692, m. Anne Sands. Jonathan, of Throgs Neck, died w/o issue. Martha, married a Mr. Clark. Phebe, m. 1700 to Edmund Burling. Hanna, who died 1759, m. William Mott (1674-17 40) of Long Island. And lastly, Sarah, b. 1680s, m. Solomon Palmer.

Peter (1670s - bef. 1712), son of John and Mary Jackson, married Susannah Fowler, d/o Henry & Abigail (Hoyt) Fowler. had: Peter, (living in 1712), who married Mercy. Joseph, (living? in 1750), married Mary Hott (Hoyt/Hoit/Hott all likely same lin es). Jonathan, b. by 1691, d. after 1739. Gilbert, m. Sarah, d/o Moses and Sarah (Archer) Fowler. Phebe, m. 20-Jul-1734 to Joseph, s/o Richard Cornell of Mamaroneck.

Joseph, s/o Peter Ferris and Susannah Fowler, was of Stamford, CT, married Mary, d/o Joseph Hoit, had: Joseph, Jr, who died after 1750 at Northcastle. Samuel. Abigail, b. 13-Apr-1701, Stamford, CT married John Pennoyer.

There was also James, s/o John Ferris and Mary Jackson, b. @1682, d.1746/47, married Anne Sands of Sands Point, Long Island, NY. Had: James, b.30-Jul-1734, d. 1780, m. 1753 to Charity, d/o Hon. John Thomas. Martha, m. Mr. Honeywell. Mercy, marr ied a Mr. Lawrence. Elizabeth, m. Joseph Causten. Jane/Anne. Mary, died 1772, married Caleb Pell (1712-1768). Benjamin, b. 1729, married Sarah. John, b.Jun-1733, d. 03-Jan-1814, slave owner in 1755 census, married Marianna, d/o Thomas and Mar y Hunt of Westchester, she died Jul-1809 at Grove Farm.

James and Anne's son, Benjamin (b. 1729) d. 1779, had with Sarh, a daughter, Elizabeth.

Just how the lines tie in, if, indeed, they do, I have not yet found proof. However, much of the information known about the Queens County, NB Ferrises indicates at least a POSSIBLE relation to this group that came "through" Westchester County, NY , and Flushing, Long Island, NY.
