  • Name: Elizabeth (Betsy) McAlmon
  • Birth: 1801 in: Albert County, New Brunswick, Canada
  • Death: 23-DEC-1888 in: Waterside, New Brunswick, Canada
  • Father: Moses McElmon
  • Mother: Cynthia Miner

Notes: Usually called "Betsy." Am not overjoyed with fully accepting Moses and Cynthia as Betsy's parents. Their information is listed here as it is currently the only parentage "on offer" for Betsy. Given Betsy was born around 1801 (by most accounts ) it seems unlikely her parents would have been married in 1809. HOWEVER, if the marriage date is incorrect, or previous information on Betsy is off, then it is surely POSSIBLE that Moses and Cynthia were, indeed, her parents. Another possibilit y is that Moses may have been married prior to Cynthia, and had Betsy by that marriage... Again... many 'possibles' but am seeking the "truth"!

ODDLY enough, the "tree" that shows Betsy born to Moses and Cynthia shows their marriage in 1809, and her borth in 1798. It also "forces" her birth location to Fort Lawrence, Cumberland Co, NS. ALL three siblings listed (James, Lucy Ann, and Jo hn) ae listed as b. 1809 or 31-Aug-1809, at Fort Lawrence. Rather tough to follow that one, as the marriage of the parents is in May 1809, then last-born child is born only 3 months later??? It WOULD also mean, if Betsy WAS born 1809 or later , that she'd have been ten years of age when marrying Daniel.
