Notes: According to Cothren: "Henry was the first to bear the surname of Minor. He lived in the reign of one of the Edwards of England, at Mendippe Hills, in Somersetshire, England, and died in 1359. The name, with armorial bearings, was given him by King Edward, in acknowle dgment of his loyal service, in providing an escort for the king on his way to embark for France. His name is said to have been Bullman, before it was changed, and his business, that of a miner. King Edward, in giving hima coat of arms, honore d his profession by giving him the name of his trade for a surname. .... A complete pedigree of the family from Henry down to Thomas of New London, Connecticut," was done by a J. Hammond Trumbull of Hartford, CT. Cothren and Mr. Trumbull, from what I can gather, have different opinions on the lineage of Thomas of New London, CT, as one has Clement (his father) as SON of William, while the other has him as son of Thomas, son of William. The extra generatio n actually makes more chronological and genealogical sense, so that is how it is listed on these pages.
