Notes: 1881 Canada Census for Lockport, Shelburne, Nova Scotia: Robert STEPHENSON M Male English 29 Nova Scotia Seaman Baptist Mary STEPHENSON M Female English 26 Nova Scotia Baptist Averd STEPHENSON Male English 2 Nova Scotia Baptist Interestingly, a Robert A. Stephenson was said to have been born in 1850, in NB, to a James William Stephenson and a Matilda Whitlock. The only reason this trio offers secondary potential is the "A" in Robert's middle initial... COULD it have bee n Averd or Avard? Though this Robert A. could be Robert Alexander, b. possibly in 1851, in Ontario, died 1916, father was William J Stephenson... mmm... James William/William J.... makes one wonder, eh? 1910 US Census for Somerville, Middlesex, Massachusetts: Stephenson, Robert F., head, m, w, 58, M1-35, Can, Can, Can, painter - trolley museum ", Mary, wife, f, w, 54, M1-35, 4/4, Can, Can, Can, none ", Avard H., son, m, w, 30, S, Can, Can, Can, grocery clerk ", Alicia B., dau, f, w, 28, S, Can, Can, Can, Dressmaker - Dress shop ", Pearl E or C, dau, f, w, 24, S, Can, Can, Can, Stenographer - General Office ", Brenton C., son, m, w, 22, S, Can, Can, Can, Photographer - Photo Studio All listed as arriving in US in 1902. Bothers me that Avard is listed as single, vice widowed. Hoping this is not one of those wild goose chases.
