Notes: Have seen many VAILs in the Gagetown church records of late 1700s and early to mid 1800s. Another possible FATHER of James O., might be John E. Vail, who died York County in 1922?? On Worldconnect, found a James O'Brian Vail, born 23-Nov-1866, son of Solomon (b. 30-Jan-1810, Kingslear, York, NB) and Asenath Nutter (b. 27-Jan-1836) The following 1881 Canada Census record for Vail family in Manners-Sutton, York, NB, has VERY good possibilities: Aselath R. VAIL Wid Female English 44 New Brunswick Farmer Methodist Frank H. VAIL Male English 23 New Brunswick Farmer Methodist Charles W. VAIL Male English 21 New Brunswick Labourer Methodist John C. VAIL Male English 20 New Brunswick Labourer Methodist Annie L. VAIL Female English 19 New Brunswick Methodist Chipman F. VAIL Male English 17 New Brunswick Farmer Son Methodist Daily J. VAIL Female English 16 New Brunswick Methodist JAMES O. VAIL Male English 14 New Brunswick Son Methodist Myra C. VAIL Female English 11 New Brunswick Methodist Solomon VAIL Male English 10 New Brunswick Methodist Samuel BROCKWAY Male English 12 New Brunswick Methodist That said, the following 1901 Census for Manners-Sutton, York, NB, has even better possibilities. If so, however, and the informaton on Nellie Young is correct, suspect that Annie (first wife?) died or they were divorced, before 1904, as tha t is marriage date I currently have for James and Nellie. 40 122 Vail James M Head M Nov 23 1866 34 41 122 Vail Annie M. Notes: 2nd wife, marriage from PANB. Have only seen the one child for Nellie (James Grant Vail). Most likely parentage is James Young and wife Mary A. Young, of Manners-Sutton in 1881 Canada Census. If correct, that would put Nellie's year of birth around 1877. If she was born outside NB, then any number of possibilities.
