Notes: According to George F. Hazelton's book, "A GENEALOGY OF Hazelton and Styles Families", Gateway Press,Inc. Baltimore,MD,USA. James and David Hazelton (brothers) families emigrated to Digby together. They had married sisters (Elizabeth Ann and Margaret Norris) in a "double bond" marriage The gist of the story is that after James Hazelton died in 1859, Elizabeth had to ta ke care of her 5 boys (daughter Margaret married in 1860) and 2 of widow Margaret's boys.Margaret had left for New Brunswick to take a new spouse. Struggling to make it, some of the boys were raised by other families as they worked as farmhand s . Joshua went with the Saxton family and Lewis went with the Stephen Marshall family in Marshalltown. COMMENT: If you look at the census information for Robert Marshall, you will see that a Stephen Marshall (30 yrs older than Robert) resided in the same household. This is definitely were Lewis lived until his marriage to Phoebe in a Baptist ceremo ny in Hill Grove on 18 Sept 1883. ADDENDUM: I, Jared, found a record of marriage for Lewis and Phoebe, which indicates same date, but location as Gulliver's Cove. (Oct-2002).
