Notes: Albrecht Sobieska was the first of the family in America. Albrecht was a cousin of John III, King of Poland. However, since the crown was not inherited, he was not of "royal blood." Albrecht (Albert) was born at Zolkiew, Poland in 1638. Arrive d in New York in 1662 on the ship "Fox" from Amsterdam. He shows up in Jersey City, Bergen County in 1676. On 17-Dec-1676 he married Machtelt (Matilda) Van Der Linden (age 20, b. Brussels ,Belgium), daughter of Yost Van Der Linden. Albert died 11 -Sep-1711, Matilda died 1725.
