Notes: Interesting to note, a Hanford Ellsworth is buried (no dates) in the Cumberland Point Cemetery, in Queens County (on Grand Lake), along with his wife, Sarah. The online transcription states "One of the original settlers of Grand Lake." Is Sarah.. . Sally? Or, possibly a 2nd wife?

The 1861 Census for Waterborough Parish, Queens County, New Brunswick, Canada reads as follows:

Hanford - 66, Farmer, Sarah - 57, John - 37 h/w Elizabeth - 34, Mary -35, Catharine - 28, Donald - 24, George - 17, Hannah - 15, Benjamin - 13. It then lists two grandsons, likely sons of John and Elizabeth as: Elijah - 1, James Hanford - 10month s (b. 1860).

OF NOTE: Some sources show Hanford's parents as Benjamin Ellsworth and Elizabeth Sharp. Find that rather interesting, since his own brother, John, married an Elizabeth Sharp. Might have been some poorly placed records?

John Ferris - Ferris/Farris researcher - indicates family bible records and other family notes show the Sarah who married Hanford was, in fact, the daughter of George, not John (so PERHAPS the daughter of John is the Sarah who married Hugh Cameron ??? - both Sarah's were first cousins, born within a year of one another, so hard to prove) This is but one more Ferris line that has become a bit "dicey" over the years. Here is how John sees the Sarah and Hanford Ellsworth children:

Joseph---never married. - Not in lines I've found
John married Betsy Olts. (ME: have listed as "Elizabeth UNKNOWN")
Donald married widow Caldwell. (ME: didn't have marriage)
George married Mary Ann Wilson. (ME: didn't have marriage)
Margaret married George MacLean. (ME: don't have Margaret)
Isaac married Hannah Elsworth. (ME: don't have Isaac)
Mary never married.
Eliza married Conrad Drillon. (ME: don't have Eliza, but do have Conrad Drillen marrying Rebecca Sarah Ellsworth)
And there is a lot more. Whoever this relative was, she did a lot of reserch 58 years ago. She credits much of her info as coming from "Grandmother Mary Spence Ferris' Bible and family burying grounds along the Grand Lake."
Also from "Great Grandmother Mary MacLean's christian records."

Notes: The Sarah & Mary Ferris quandry surely applies here.

Sarah Ferris and Hugh Cameron, d/o ???
Sarah Ferris and Hanford Ellsworth, d/o ???
Mary Ferris and John Camp, d/o ???
Mary Ferris and Solomon Camp, d/o ???

Even Wiggins, between his various histories, does nothing to solve this quandry. Merely offering two perspectives. Needs a serious look to unravel. Greenwood indicates the Sarah who married Hanford was the daughter of "the original George Ferri s". Thus, the quandry remains or is solved, depending on just which source one chooses to believe as the "gospel" source. He later states (Greenwood) that Sarah was "daughter of George Ferris, the Loyalist".
