Hugh and Margaret had two sons, Duncan and Hugh, and five daughters, Damie, Matilda, Margaret, Phoebe, and Elizabeth. Thought the elder Hugh died as a fairly young man, his widow, Margaret, known locally as 'Aunt Margaret' served as nurse and mid wife for MANY years.

Notes: As a very loyal Baptist, it is said that the beginnings of the Baptist Church in Mill Cove can be traced to Margaret Ferris. "Aunt Margaret" as she was widely known, lived to be quite an old woman, far outliving her husband, Hugh.
