Notes: May be the one called "Deacon" who was member of the Baptist Church at Upper Jemseg in the mid 1800's. Sometimes addressed as "Hatfield". It was either he or his 20 years his senior namesake who was a teacher in Queens County (See "In Duty Bound"), Said to have been of good moral character. As a trustee for the parish of Waterborough in his later years, he supported several petitio ns for individuals to receive licenses to teach. He surely taught in Waterborough from 1826-1829
Notes: Have also found reference to a Matilda Jane Estey, d/o Nehemiah Brown Estey and Mary Jane "Polly" Ring, listing Matilda as born 18-Sep-1803, but no listing of marriage to Joseph in those references. Both listings of Nehemiah marrying Margaret AN D "Polly" show him as son of Zebulon Estey and Mary "Molly" Brown/Braun.
