Notes: Due to the serious debate over the Springer ancestry, I will not be listing too many ancestral generations for William, because of the "Springer Hoax". I believe his ancestry on this side of the Atlantic is pretty well documented, but once "acros s the pond" becomes too muddled up to properly sort. If such a time arises as a CLEAR line of descent is presented, I shall include it in this body of work. UEL - Came to St John in 1783, and was a grantee of that city. He afterwards settled in Jemseg, on the farm owned by Rev. G. W. Springer (in 1876). Some accounts indicate the Springer family came from Delaware. In the Early Baptists of Cambridge Parish by Greenwood, he mentions William's sons, James and William as being Loyalists of Swedish extraction who migrated from the State of Delaware. Since this publication was from 1941, there's no way of knowin g if Greenwood had also been influenced by the "Springer Hoax", at some point. Following ar children of William/Martha as listed by Ralph E. Stevens: William SPRINGER b: 1779 in Queens Co., New Brunswick, Canada (if born 1779, surely incorrect, as William Sr. arrived 1783.) Deborah SPRINGER b: 1781 in Delaware, USA Charity SPRINGER b: 1783 in Delaware, USA James SPRINGER b: 1791 in Waterborough Parish, Queens Co., New Brunswick, Canada It is believed by some other researchers that a possible younger brother of William, James, may have accompanied the family north (if so, that James was born in 1769).
Notes: Previously, I'd not listed a surname for Martha, as I'd never come across one. However, a researcher researching the line in Delaware, and seeking those who left for NB, stated the following: "Looking for the parents of William Springer born in Delaware ca 1746, married Martha Yeoman. The couple were Loyalists to New Brunswick at the time of the American Revolution. I know he is from the rather well known Swedish family there but I jus t can't find documentation for his parents." Though this person was unable to find ancestry, he/she seemed sure enough of the surname of Martha that I'm now listing it in this genealogy. Hopefully, it's correct, and may later lead to earlier maternal generations of the NB Springers.
