VanTASSEL, Florence Isabelle
VanTASSEL, Florence Isabelle - 82, Digby, passed away February 7, 2004, in
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Digby, she was a daughter of the
late Watson and Lillian (Hazelton) Handspiker. She was a member of the Ladies
Auxiliary of Digby Branch 20, Royal Canadian Legion. She served on various
committees. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Digby Fire
Department, where she ran the canteen for five years. She was an avid bingo
player. She is survived by her son, Ronald; his wife, Sheila, Digby; sister,
Marion Morehouse, Digby; half-brother, Budd Barr, Digby; six grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her
husband, Guy; son, Michael; brothers, Buster and Frank; sister, Cora.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch
St., Digby. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Digby Baptist Church,
Rev. Donald Robertson officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Digby.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory can be made to a charity of your
choice.
