CRAWFORD HANDFORD DALEY Crawford Handford DALEY, age 74,and 6 months a well
respected citizen,passed away at Marshalltown , March 6 after a long illness of
nearly six months duration ,which he bore with great fortitude and patience. Born in
Culloden ,he was the son of Sarah [VAN TASSEL ] and Crawford DALEY ,Coming with his
family to Marshalltown twenty -five years ago. He followed the sea,fishing on the
banks all his life ,until retiring ten years ago. Left to mourn their loss are his
wife , the former Edna ABBOTT, and one daughter [Ruby] Mrs Harley MCCORMICK ,East
Lynn, Mass;a sister [Effie ] Mrs Jared BANKS ,Rossway and a brother , William DALEY,
Culloden . Funeral service was held Thursday afternoon from the home, Rev. F.B.
GASKILL, Trinity Church ,Digby officiating. Pallbearers were Crawford R. DALEY and
Bernard BANKS nephews of the deceased,Otis BELL and Lloyd MCNEIL. Interment was in
St.Paul's Cemetery , Marshalltown

DEATH OF CAPT. DALEY We have to chroncile this week the death of Capt. Crawford
DALEY of Culloden who passed away on Wed. Jan. 25 after a long illness. Capt. DALEY
was born in 1834 and had therefore reached the age of 65. In former years he
commanded small vessels out of St. Mary's Bay but later carried on a farming
business at Culloden. Three sons and five daughters , three sisters and two brothers
and a large circle of relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss. The
funeral took place on Friday and was largely attended . The remains were interred in
the cemetery at Broad Cove and the funeral service was preformed by Rev. B.H. THOMAS
, assisted by Rev. Mr. DURKEE. In the announcements -DALEY----Died at Culloden on
the 25th. of Jan. Capt. Crawford Daley age 65.

MRS SERAPH DALEY We regret to inform you this week of the death of Mrs Seraph DALEY
the widow of the late Capt. Crawford DALEY of Culloden,who passed away at her home
last Sunday evening at the age of seventy-five years and 10 months. The deceased has
been ailing for some time with diabetes but bore her suffering with Christian
fortitude. She leaves to mourn three daughtersand two sons. Mrs Bernard COSSABOOM of
Digby; Mrs Jean BANKS of Rossway and Mrs Eda DEARMAND of Culloden; William at home
and Hanford of Brighton also one sister and four brothers. The funeral was held
Tues. afternoon ,the service being conducted by Rev.T. McAVOY , pastor of the
Baptist church. The floral tributes were beautiful.

Was "Sarah" d/o John Isaac Vantassel? What WAS her "real" name? Sarah? Trephina? Seraph? Seraphim? Seraphina?... the list grows on!
