Notes: County Tyrone... on 13-Apr-1801, baptized Andres ROSS, s/o Crawford ROSS of Lisnatenny. oliver crawford ross of tyrone and his wife frances eleanor st. clair ross arrived in US in 1773. Presbyterian; County Tyrone, 1758; arr in Philadelphia 28 Sep 1783; Highland County, Ohio, 1802 (Oliver ROSS, w/Francis Eleanor ST CLAIR, sons; St Clair, Josiah - daughters; Margaret, and Rebecca) Presbyterian, County Tyrone, (Newtown Stewart), 1800; Digby, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, 1832. (Crawford ROSS, w/Margaret HAMILTON, sons; Oliver, Alexander, John; daughters; Rosana, Mary and Katherine) According to the 1796 "Flax Seed Premium Entitlement List", there were several Ross' living in the parish of Ardstraw (which includes Newton Stewart), namely: David, John and Oliver.[1] No indication of age is given. An Oliver Ross, born c.1754, emigrated from Newton Stewart in 1783 to the USA with his family.[1] Crawford Ross was born c.1778 and had a son, Oliver, born c.1815, born at Newton Stewart. Crawford, Oliver and the rest of Crawford's family emigrated to the USA in 1831. They were Presbyterians.[1] The Oliver mentioned in the Flax Tax was probably a brother of Crawford. While it is fairly certain that these Ross' are closely related to my line, below, it is impossible, at this time, to establish exactly what the connection is. It is doubtful that the David listed in the Flax tax list is David B. Ross, below, since he would probably have been born no earlier than 1780 and thus would have been too young to be in the Flax List. Newton Stewart is in the north of County Tyrone, about 20 miles south of Londonderry, on the banks of the River Mourne, in the parish of Ardstraw. [1] Ronald Ross McClennan,
