     Jacob Vatter Seems he was born in EITHER Louisiana or GERMANY!! Various mentions in census records of children as one or the other, and back again. Perhaps he WAS born in Germany, but came to New England from Louisiana?

Jacob was in the 1st (Company F) and 2nd (Company E) Louisiana Cavalry, and filed invalid status in 1910, while 'Luella' filed for widow status in Feb-1925, both in Massachusetts.

NOTE: Company E, 2nd LA Cav was funded and led by S. C. Furman, and therefore was popularly known as 'Furman's Rangers'.

There was a Jacob Father in 1860 US Census for New Orleans, LA, b. Baden Germany @1848, living in household of Dennis Landry. Looks to be orphaned or indentured, along with his brother, Adam 'Father'.

Surely he was the Jacob Vatter listed in 1870 census for Lawrence, Essex Co, MA, b. @1849, Louisiana.

Due to Census records, have no reason to believe the ancestral lines posted in AWT for now. That would put Parker's father as Parker Cole, and mother as Lois Martin. THAT Parker doesn't seem to fit this one, as he married a Sarah or Susanna, not an Eliza... at least not a single mention of her in that 'tree'. IF his father WAS Parker (entirely possible), it's likely the same Parker Cole who was in the Massachusetts Militia in the Amer. Rev. who received his pension in Sullivan County, New Hampshire.
